This company runs continuous advertisements in help wanted sections of local newspapers for security guards and drivers. They do not directly hire or offer an employment opportunity. Their services consist of training and assistance obtaining permits and certification which may qualify the student for a job in the security industry. Job placement services are offered with no guarantee of employment. This company's Principal, Michael McCormick was previously an officer of American Security Services. This company has an unsatisfactory record with our office based on their customer experience record, deceptive advertising practices and a legal action filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. Talon Security and Michael McCormick, both were named in the suit which charged the company with falsly advertising employment opportunities. A seperate report is available upon request. This office location is new to our files. We have not had sufficient time to develop a customer experience record. Based on our experience with this company's past and present business affiliates, complaints received generally alleged false or misleading advertising and misrepresentation of job placement success. Complainants alleged, facts about hourly rates and employment opportunities were exaggerated and used by the company to induce students to sign contracts. As of 10/30/97 this company was not registered as a trade or vocational school through the California Dept. of Private Postsecondary Education. It appears there has been no determination as to registration requirements. Keep in mind most legitimate employment opportunities would not require you to pay for the priviledge of working for them. This company's contract makes no guarantees of providing you a job. Ask the company to provide you with a verifiable list of statistics on the percentage of students who have found a job through this firm's job placement services. Call names on the list to verify services were actually rendered.
