Front end alignment went wrong.

I went to Top Tech 11/29/21 for a front end alignment. I left and I wasn't even a mile down the road and my car started messing up really bad, to the point I was afraid to drive my car. I call top tech and tell them that I had just left the shop not even 5 minutes prior and now my car is not running correctly. Mind you, my car was running perfectly it just need an alignment. While I'm on the phone with this guy he tell me to open my hood and I quote "look to see if my tech left anything loose or open" couple things, for 1 I was so upset I didn't no what to look for, for 2 a front end alignment doesn't require the hood to even be popped. I also asked not to have any of my coolants refilled, just strictly for the alignment he assured me nothing else would be tampered with. I BARELY made it home and my husband checked the car out and found a fuel pressure cap off and just laying on my engine(under the hood) now I am $6350 deep in repairs and my car is STILL at a shop being fixed. Since my experience I have talked to SEVERAL people that have been scr**ed over by them. They didn't even offer to look at our car or even give us a diagnostic for what was wrong. My High pressure fuel pump went out, all 4 coil packs, all 4 spark plus, and compression cylinder 4 went out. Again, my car had zero acceleration problems before going to Top Tech. Not including what top tech charged up we are having to finance $6350, that also doesn't include the coil packs, or spark plugs.

Comments and Analysis

California law affords you certain rights when you have repairs made to your automobile. Repair shops are required to display a sign informing you of these rights. They include, for example, the right to a written repair estimate, to a detailed invoice of labor and parts, and to the return of any parts replaced, provided you request the return at the time you order the work and provided that your warranty does not require that the be returned to the manufacturer.

A repair service may not perform repairs beyond those listed in the estimate without your authorization. However, if they have to tear down a component to give you an estimate, you may have to pay for the labor to tear it down and reassemble it. You will know beforehand, though, what the charge for that will be. You should never sign a blank work order, and a reputable dealer will not ask you to.

For businesses outside of California, please check with the agency that regulates this industry.
