Complaint Resolution Index (CRI) Explained The Complaint Resolution Index (CRI) is an indicator on how responsive a company is in addressing and resolving customer complaints brought to their attention by BCA. If they are considering doing business with the company, consumers can use this indicator to forecast the likelihood of having their issues addressed if a problem arises. CRI measures the company's customer satisfaction abilities through BCA’s complaint mediation process.

This includes how quickly a company responds to complaints, the number of complaints against a company, whether the company addressed complaint allegations, and the outcome of the complaints. Complainants allege non delivery of ordered BBQ islands, deceptive sales practices, and difficulty obtaining refunds. Some customers complain they purchased a floor model BBQ island displayed at a fair, or trade show with a promised delivery date within 10 days. Complainants allege waiting periods exceed three and four months, and still no delivery arrives. Many customers allege dissatisfaction with the company's cancellation and refund policies. Customers complain that even though the company fails to deliver as agreed, a 30% restocking fee is assessed for cancelled orders. The 30% fee typically amounts to $2000. Customers are dissatisfied with forfeiting $2000 when the company failed to provide the product they paid for, and they have nothing. Other complainants report BBQ's delivered arrive incomplete, or are not the same BBQ they paid for. All complainants allege poor customer service, company personnel is rude, and are generally unable to resolve billing or delivery problems. Customers complain, calls are not returned, and orders cannot be located. Most complainants report refund requests are ignored, or passed from one employee to another, with no one following through on requests.

The company responds in some cases by advising that customers have been contacted regarding back orders on tile or other materials necessary for installation. In some cases the company issued refunds less the 30% restocking fee, shipped or exchanged missing or damaged parts, or arranged for orders to be delivered. Customers are not always satisfied with the company's responses.

The Cooling-Off Rule applies to sales finalized at the buyer's home, workplace, or at a temporary location such as a county fair or trade show display.. By law, the seller must advise the buyer of the three day recision period, and provide two copies of a cancellation form (one to keep, and one to send to the seller), along with a copy of your contract or receipt. The contract or receipt, must be in the same language used in the sales presentation, dated, show the name and address of the seller, and explain cancellation procedures.
