Participants are required to pay fees ranging from $10.00 to $50.00 for registration which is non refundable. According to the company, they are holding a basketball tournament on June 2, 2001, at the L A Fitness Center in Sherman Oaks, California. On May 23, 2001, we verified with L A Fitness that they know of no tournament being held at any of their locations and their Sherman Oaks center does not have basketball courts. The company refers to a game called, "Scramble" in their golf tournament. The advertisement on the website claims the rules are approved by the United States Golf Association (USGA). According to the USGA, the "Scramble" format is not contemplated in the rules of golf. Therefore, if a discrepancy arises, there would be no way to rule because USGA rules do not apply. The company is using Research Travel to offering their buy one get one free airline tickets. We also verified Research Travel is not registered with the California Attorney General as a Seller of Travel which is required by law. We urge caution, many questionable prize promotion companies do not stay in one place long enough to establish a track record.
