We suggest comparative shopping on rates and policies. Get a written estimate. Ask the company to come and personally inspect items to be moved so they have a clear picture of the work involved. If a Non-Binding written estimate is given by the company, and the final invoice exceeds the estimated amount, customers are required to pay only 10% over the original estimate when the goods are delivered, with a balance due in 30 days. Make sure the company carries worker's compensation and adequate libility insurance to cover loss or damages to your belongings. Basic coverage sometimes pays only a few cents per pound which will not compensate for actual loss. Ask about additional insurance rates. Keep in mind, most movers will not insure items which you pack yourself.
