BCA's Summary and Analysis:

The one complaint on file alleges the company fails to provide services contracted for. Specifically, the customer alleges after paying the $1000 fee and signing a contract for production of a CD within 90 days the company failed to produce the CD and made no contact with the customer for three months. The complainant further states after leaving several messages, emails and finally threatening to complain the company made contact and took an additional two months to provide a CD. Consumer alleges the final product was not by disk makers, as originally represented, looked generic, contained the wrong songs, and had the wrong title. The consumer seeks a full refund. The complaint remains unanswered.

For a fee, some record companies advertise that they will promote songs with a vocal andd musical audition recording--all for fees to be paid by the composer. Carefully review the terms of your contract. Make sure all charges are disclosed. Contracts are a two way street. Make sure you have a clear understanding of your contractural obligations to the company, and their obligations to you. Don't rely on verbal promises. Keep in mind that projected profit figures for royalties, etc. are speculative at best. There are no guarantees that any song will be bought by a publisher or record company, or be otherwise commercially successful. These companies make money off the composer.
