Complaint Resolution Index (CRI) Explained The Complaint Resolution Index (CRI) is an indicator on how responsive a company is in addressing and resolving customer complaints brought to their attention by BCA. A few customers complained the amount of the original estimate doubled upon completion of the service, the company retained their vehicles for for extended time periods without completing repairs, or the company refused to repair engines under warranty. All complainants requested refunds, or, reimbursements for paying other repair shops to correct problems. The company responds to some complaints by offering additional repairs or in some cases, reimbursements for work performed at other shops are negotiated. A few complaints remain unresolved, meaning the customers are not satisfied with the company's responses. In some cases, unresolved complaints are due to the customer's reluctance to allow the company additional repair attempts due to lack of confidence in their abilities. All auto repair shops must be registered with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR), and should display a sign disclosing their registration along with your rights as a consumer. If you don't see a sign, ask for it. All repair shops must provide a written estimate before repairs begin, which includes prices of parts and labor charges. They cannot legally substitute parts or change the repair order without your authorization. Never sign a blank work order.
