We moved into a new rental home. Georgia Power turn off the power even though the paperwork was already started.

We moved into a rental home and were told that we had three business days to turn the power on in our name. We started the paper work Friday and it is a holiday weekend, so we would have Tuesday and Wednesday. Georgia Power turn off the power even though the paperwork was already started. They stated their policy was to request paperwork one day, review it the second day, and turn the power on the third day. I called Georgia Power and explained that a person with disabilities was already living at this address and asked if there was a priority so the power could be turned on in a more timely manner. I offer to pay a higher fee as well. They were very rude and customer service and two supervisors just continued to read their policy over and over and stated nothing could be done and they could make no rushes or guarantees as to when we will have power again. They do not have a plan for special needs situations for example: a person requiring oxygen to breathe, small infants and children, persons with disabilities, or the elderly. I think this is discriminatory and should be addressed. The company should allow for same day service even though a fee is required to handle special situations. No other utility company requires 3 days to provide a service ( not the water company, Walton EMC, Jackson EMC, or any other "needed" service.
