Complaint Resolution Index (CRI) Explained The Complaint Resolution Index (CRI) is an indicator on how responsive a company is in addressing and resolving customer complaints brought to their attention by BCA. This company requires customers to lease equipment through Certified Merchant Services, (CMS) in Plano, Texas. On March 11, 2002, CMS entered into a stipulated agreement with the Federal Trade Commission to resolve a February 2002 complaint filing, charging the company with violations of the FTC Act. The violations include, but are not limited to; misrepresentations regarding money saving benefits; failure to disclose important information about fees and general service policies, unauthorized debits or charges to accounts; and also altering text or inserting pages of text into contracts already signed by the customer. Without admission of wrongdoing, and to settle the charges, CMS agreed to preliminary injunction, an asset freeze, a court appointed receiver to oversee company operations and monitor compliance, and to pay consumer redress.
