Complaint Resolution Index (CRI) Explained The Complaint Resolution Index (CRI) is an indicator on how responsive a company is in addressing and resolving customer complaints brought to their attention by BCA. Of the complaints we have received against this company in at least some cases the complaint allegations are very serious.~Complaints allege failure to perform the promised servicees misrepresentation and failure to issue refunds when services are not performed. Complainants allege after accepting up front fees for services the company fails to obtain loan modifications as represented. Complaints also allege poor customer service and failure to issue refunds when services are not fulfilled. ~~The company responds to complaints by stating the homeowner failed to inform them that they had already attempted a modification on their own and never requested a refund directly from the company prior to filing a complaint. The customer was issued a refund. In another response the company states they were able to negotiate with the homeownerÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s lender.

Effective October, 2009 in California, it is illegal to collect any fees, regardless of the form, for negotiating or attempting to negotiate a loan modification for a residential mortgage. All modification services must be fully completed before any money can be collected. It is also illegal to divide fees or services into components for the purpose of avoiding this law.

HUD approved housing counseling agencies are exempt from this law. For businesses outside of California, please check with the agency that regulates this industry.
