This company sells a membership discount card promoting various local area beauty salons at college campuses and other public places. The discount cards are said to contain free services as well as discounts on haircuts and other services. According to the terms and conditions of the company's contract purchasers cannot cancel the membership for five months from their first billing date. ~~In California any purchase costing $25 or more and sold door-to-door or at any location other than the seller's normal place of business are considered to be home solicitation contracts and subject to a three-day cooling-off period. This means that if you change your mind about purchasing the card you have three days to cancel your transaction to obtain a refund despite what your contract says or what you have been verbally told. ~~Your contract should clearly and conspicuously disclose the terms and conditions of your purchase including your payment obligations any free services offered the discount rate for services and any restrictions for usage. It should specifically include a cancellation clause advising you of your 3 day right to cancel as well as provide a form to use for cancellation. If your contract does not include your cancellation rights you can cancel at anytime and request a full refund. Your contract would not be enforceable. ~~If you're considering purchasing a discount card check to see if participating salons are in your area. Call the salons listed as participants to see if there are restrictions on using the discount card. Check to see if there is an expiration date on the promotion and if so will you be able to use the services before the expiration date.
