BCA's Summary and Analysis:

Complaints allege misrepresentation of services and difficulty obtaining refunds upon cancellation. Some complaints allege after paying fees, ranging from $250-$350 for photos, web pages and what one client states is an "investment fee", the company fails to fulfill promises of finding acting roles or employment as escorts and fails to represent the client as suggested. Others allege the company fails to acknowledge cancellation requests, denies refunds when services are not rendered, and does not return calls. The company responds to some complaints by denying refunds stating customers received photos and web pages that they signed up for. The company also states they do not suggest that they will represent clients or guarantee employment. In a few cases, the company issued refunds and explained that refunds are made when a customer cancels before services are completed, or offered photography services at no cost. In some cases, the company failed to address allegations that no services were rendered.

Comments and Analysis

On September 14, 2004, we asked the company to provide substantive evidence that actress, Alison Ball obtained employment after signing up with their agency. Based on their advertising we also believe that any company offering to obtain, procure or assist in obtaining employment is required to register as a talent agent with the Department of Industrial Relations Labor Standards Division. Registration may be checked by calling (415)703-4846. On June 17, 2004, the Better Business Bureau verified this company is not currently licensed as a talent agency with the Department of Industrial Relations Labor Standards Division. California laws relating to "advance fee talent services" allow 10 days to cancel contracts without penalty or obligation. In some cases, refunds must be provided within 48 hours, or the company is required to pay the artist an additional sum equal to the original amount of the fee. Cancellation procedures should be outlined in your contract.
