Cancellation policy

I booked 7 rooms, with a confirmation and cancellation policy that states that if cancel before 4 pm on the day of check in there is no penalty, I went in person and cancelled around 7 am in the day of check and they still went ahead and charge the credit card, they don't want to refund my money even though I have an email for each one of the reserved rooms with the same cancellation policy. They responded to this complaint with lies, the response looks like something a 5 year old would say to get out of troubled.
