Misnomer NOT AFFORDABLE!

Water heater leak prompted a call to company listed on sticker received in the mail with emergency shut off info. Price quoted after evaluation was $3300. After applying senior and military discounts the price came down $2500. That was beyond our budget. Price was reduced to lowest possible of $1500. I asked for an itemized explanation of the costs:
EG strap $299
wood (two pieces 2x4x18") $159
gas flex hose $179
water flex hose $119x2
top union/line 7" $210+$129, drain pan $189
ground clip? $199
pipe insulation 2' $98
drip leg? $199
labor $75/hour
and water heater $1499!
Against my better judgement, and because we needed hot water I agreed to pay the ridiculous amount. Today, I have buyer's remorse. Shame on me for not doing my research instead of just doing what was easy and calling the number on the sticker. Shame on your company for taking advantage of people, especially those on a limited income.
