Subject: DEMAND FOR FULL REFUND – Optima Tax Relief's Fraudulent Conduct I paid Optima Tax Relief $4,800 over two years and received absolutely nothing in return. My suspicions grew when I called in December 2024—on a regular working day—only to have an officer yawning on the phone. No response when I emailed a formal complaint. A week later, I called again, and another officer fed me nonsense about "working through layers." Really? My case requires a simple three-line submission. To cut through the lies, I went directly to the IRS—twice. I confirmed there had been zero communication from Optima Tax Relief regarding my case. When I confronted them, they initially offered me a pathetic $700 refund—without explaining why they were keeping the rest of my money. Later, they bumped it to $1,200, still dodging any proof of actual work done. Out of sheer frustration, I told them they could keep $2,000 as an acceptable loss for dealing with a company like theirs. But on February 11, they called, offering $1,700 while THREATENING me to remove my BBB complaint. Once again, I demanded documentation of any work they had done to justify keeping my money—they had none. I now demand a FULL refund—immediately. Optima Tax Relief had every opportunity to complete an incredibly simple job and failed spectacularly. I strongly urge everyone to bypass these middlemen and deal directly with the IRS, which offers multiple direct solutions. Optima Tax had been in contact with the Client prior to receiving this complaint. On January 22, 2025 Optima Tax reached out to clarify the work that had been done for his case. Optima Tax follows a set process for addressing Client accounts. First, we ensure all tax returns are accurately filed, all audits were correctly assessed based on available substantiation, and all IRS under-reporter assessments were correct. Once this process is complete, we review the Client's financials for possible hardship, or whether the best resolution is an installment agreement. From there, we present options to the Client and determine how they wish to move forward. We only contact the IRS after the Client agrees on a plan of action. We do not contact the IRS prior to this time as there is nothing that can be accomplished. This process is not quick. In complicated cases, this process can take a year or more . Ultimately, substantial work was performed for the Client's case and Optima Tax was ready and willing to complete the work. Any failure to do so was based on the Client's decision to part ways with our company. Although it is not typical for us to offer refunds outside of our cancellation period, a generous courtesy refund was offered. The Client has declined our offer. Optima Tax believes it has addressed the client’s concerns appropriately and considers the matter closed. Optima Tax regrets that we were unable to reach a mutually agreeable resolution in this matter.

I joined Optima tax relief to help me with my tax debt. Initially they told me that they could absolutely help me resolve this debt. I told them I need it to be significantly decreased as I could not afford the payments. Optima changed me over 3500 dollars which is now paid off, last year I received a call telling me that my case came to a resolution and I was thrilled. 6 months pass and I reached out to optima. I got a completely different story, that they couldn't guarantee my case would be resolved and that's after several attempts to get in touch with them, they never call back. So months of this. Sending paperwork, and multiple attempts to speak with someone, months later I get another call telling me that my options have expired. NO ONE called me to review this. They told me I had to pay 400 or so a month, which is the payment plan I could have set up myself with the irs. ;for FREE! I said no one called me. And that hadn't, I reach out often with no calls back! So 2 weeks ago this call was telling me I had no options as they expired, again, no one called. Carlos told me that they had my income at over 7000 a month, this is not accurate. I have already provided ALL MY DOCUMENTS! So I sent in more check stubs. He said if you don't hear from us in 72 hours, call them. Oh wouldn't you know I have requested a call twice now and nothing, NO RETURN CALLS!!!!! It's been well over one year, I have paid them thousands, this feels like a scam at this point they have done nothin Resolution Sought I want my money back from optima.
