breach of contract
We had used Preferred Contractors as I believed the owner, Mr. Swaving was an honest man. Once we paid our deposit, which was over the legal limit of 10% (unfortunately I found out too late), he more or less disappeared. It took him over 3 months to start. Once the project was started, we began to realize the imitations on his knowledge of just about every aspect of his business. I will say his masons are good at what they do. I felt that I had to push every step of the way to get the job done. Once the bulk of the job was done(many weeks longer than expected) and he collected the bulk of his money, Jack about vanished. I had to pursue for many months to get him to finish numerous loose ends. In addition to that he owed us a large credit that has never been paid. Unfortunately, we will be forced to sue him as he will no longer respond to any calls, texts or emails. It now makes sense why he doesn't have voice mail! I just hope we do not have any long term problems with the work done. I strongly caution anyone seriously considering using this guy.

Backyard project delayed over 6 weeks. Jack Swaving, Preferred Contractor, making no effort to complete the job
I gave the project to hardscape my backyard to Jack Swaving, owner of Preferred contractors. Project was originally supposed to be completed by last week of July '13. The project is still not completed. Several deadlines have been missed already. Several items related to the projects are OPEN and I am not able to get any meaningful response from Jack. No END is in sight. Repeated requests to meet with me to provide an update on status of the project and when it would be completed have gone un-answered. Even if he shows up and we review the delays and open items, he doesn't follow up or follow through on what he commits to. Jack was very responsive during the sales process but now that he's collected most of the money, he doesn't even answer the phone or reply to text messages. I am talking to my lawyers to recover the money that has been already paid. Anyone thinking of giving any project to this company, BE AWARE. I will be filing a detailed complaint next week with BCA if all the pending work is still not completed. If anyone needs the details, feel free to send me a personal message.
