We are locals so I wonder how they treat our tourists and other minorities.

Today my husband and I went shopping because I was in the market for a ring. We went into this business and greeted the tall, older, balding gentleman behind the counter while looking at the rings. We did not see what we wanted and thanked him as we started. Meanwhile, a shorter man with a full head of hair came from the back talking to the first man in their own language while glaring at us. We were half way to the door when the shorter one actually started making fart noises and called us beaners 3 times between making the noise. They have no right to call us a racial slur and make gross noises. We are locals so I wonder how they treat our tourists and other minorities. By the way, I'm naive American and my husband is Hispanic. Not call their customer beaners and make fast noises at them. Then I feel they should give myself and my husband a public apology. I know they have cameras and I know what time I was there. I challenge them to release the footage also. I seriously feel this is akin to a hate crime. SOMETHING needs to be done but I have no idea what

Like she explained in her post, the couple came to our shop and looked around for rings. As she said, they were warm with us and even though they did not find what they were looking for, they were nice and thanked us before they left our store. The issue came up right before they left. As they were walking out, I farted and it made a pretty loud sound. They heard the noise and I looked at them and joked about eating 3 bean burritos for lunch - I was trying to diffuse an awkward situation with humor by joking that the burritos I ate were the reason why I farted. However this is not how they perceived the situation. Maybe because English is not my first language and I speak with an accent they misheard what I said. I did not call them "beaners." To be honest, as an immigrant from the Middle East, I did not even know what the term "beaner" meant until I googled it after reading their post. Being Middle Eastern, I have received a fair share of racial slurs over the years, and I understand how painful it is to be attacked for your race. So I emphasize with them because from their side of things, they felt like I was trying to hurt them and attack their identity. I hope I made it clear that this was not my intention, and this whole thing just boils over to miscommunication between us over a stupid joke I made during an awkward moment. I wish that I had cleared this up with them directly after they came into the shop rather than now because I might have been able to help prevent the pain and anger that they ended up going through. I take responsibility for not being more clear with them and creating a context where they felt that they were being targeted for their race. To inform you also that after the people start reading my replay and understand the clarification , they start Attacking them people for being understanding and just . Thanks to the admins of the page Where she posted her claim at "Taos speaks up again "TheY stopped the threads and took down her post and deleted it completely. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to reply to these "claims " and I leave it to the people to know the both side of the story.
