I called Safe Ship moving company May 6th to inquire about their services to move me from Louisville Kentucky to Sarasota Florida. The man who I spoke to Leroy Adams (I believe) talked to me about their services. He emphasized several times that they were a family owned company that use exclusively veterans. He literally said we do not use people off Craig's list to move your things. He also explained how they would use specific boxes for dishes and glass items to ensure they would not break etc. They gave my order to Cita Van Lines who arrived to pick up the items. Neither spoke English. (They were not veterans) they were rude and very careless. One guy actually dropped an antique desk off his dolly on to the floor..did not even apologize or act concerned. They left me with no paper work. Upon recovering my things on June 30th a different truck came with one man as a driver. Another young man pulled up and explained he was answering Craig's list to help move . (They said they didn't use Craig's list etc) All the items were covered on soot, bins and boxes were dented and ripped. This was a different truck than the one they picked up my things in. I was never informed that my things would be stored and transferred. There were broken kitchen items because they literally didn't wrap them and just set a bunch of glass items in a box.(not the type of packaging I was told) . Furniture damage to an antique. I was never explained the insurance programs. Resolution Sought I would like $3000 for damages, cleaning of items and the false advertising they did to get my job.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and sincerely regret that your move did not meet your expectations. Safe Ship Moving Services is a licensed moving brokerage, not a motor carrier. This means we coordinate logistics and assign shipments to licensed and insured carriers, such as Cita Van Lines, who physically perform the transportation. While our agents aim to provide clear explanations about this structure during the booking process, we understand that miscommunications can occur, and we are sorry for any confusion regarding the carrier’s role. The moving team who handled your move should have provided you with all required documents at pickup — including the Bill of Lading, inventory, and valuation/insurance options. Regarding your concerns about the movers’ professionalism and handling of your items, those issues fall under the carrier’s responsibility during transit. However, Safe Ship expects all carriers to maintain the highest standards of care, respect, and communication. We take these reports seriously and will address this matter directly with the carrier to ensure accountability and corrective action. Please note that any claims for loss or damage must be submitted in writing to the carrier within the claims period noted on your paperwork. Again, we regret the difficulties you experienced and appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve both communication and carrier oversight moving forward.

I did not choose the proper insurance so therefore I can't make an accurate monetary reimbursement for damages. I do think the insurance should have been brought to my attention and reviewed prior to signing the contract.

RESPONSE: Refuse to adjust, relying on terms of agreement Amount in Dispute: $1,368.83 Amount Settled: $0.00

Customer Complaint

Placed order on 4/27/2024 for move on July 10-11. Canceled on 6/9/2024. I was told I could cancel up to a week prior to the move. I was told I could cancel or I would not have placed the order. They kept the entire down payment of $1368.83 and refused any refund. They never responded to my email so I called. Very inflexible. I feel they should refund most or all of the down payment. I can see a cancellation fee but not the entire down payment. Resolution Sought Refund all or most of the down payment and charge cancellation fee.

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding your experience with Safe Ship Moving Services. We understand how frustrating it can feel when expectations and outcomes don’t align, and we’d like to address your concerns. Safe Ship Moving operates as a broker, and part of our service includes securing carriers for your move. The down payment you provided acts as a deposit to reserve the services of the carrier and cover the initial coordination efforts on your behalf. Our cancellation policy, which is outlined at the time of booking, allows for a refund only if cancellation occurs within a 72-hour window following the signing of the bill of lading. Unfortunately, cancellations outside of this window are not eligible for a refund, as funds are allocated to securing and confirming services with the carrier network. We sincerely apologize if there was any misunderstanding about the cancellation policy. We strive to ensure that all policies are communicated clearly during the booking process, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our communication efforts. While we cannot override the terms of the contract, we truly regret that this situation has caused you frustration and would be happy to review your case to ensure that everything was handled in line with our policies. If you believe additional clarification or assistance is necessary, we encourage you to reach out to our customer service team again. We aim to provide transparent and empathetic support and remain committed to addressing your concerns within the scope of our policies.
