They turn me away because I was a nursing mother
I was turned away because I had my four month old baby with me. They denied me services to get my hair done and they said it would be a problem! It was my first time going for the service and seeing Chesney.(hair stylist) she said my Baby would disturb the other customers !!! I will Not be going there again because of how they treated me. Turning myself & Baby away & denying me the service! Contingent only on if my Baby got fussy!! I also asked if I could nurse her there during the service and they said no! I even asked if there was a room in the back or anywhere I could go and they said there was no room available or anywhere where I couldn't nurse my baby! Unprofessional, rude and disrespecting! It's a discrimination against nursing mothers! Not providing a nursing room!..is unsuitable for business! If my four-month-old baby was getting hungry there should have been an available room because I've been there for an eyebrow wax with Sarah the tech who does the waxing and she took me to a room for that. I know there's a place & I should have been able to nurse my baby! I'm very upset- Maggie was getting hungry and no available bathroom to change her diaper! She needed a change! It was not offered before I left. There is no ramp or access when I was coming in with the stroller it was very difficult to even get into the salon with my baby! There's a problem getting into the place. No handicap or wheelchair access at all, or stroller access coming in Unsuitable for business!

As we all know there's are 2 sides to every situation. We have high expectations, strive for excellence at Salon 130 and have great reviews! This was Jessica's second visit to the salon. Her first visit was for a 15 minute eye brow wax appointment which is very different from a color appointment. She didn't complain about the fact that our building didn't have a ramp at that time. We actually helped her in with the stroller. The lack of a ramp is a moot point. The salon is in a historical building ramps and handicap requirements do not apply. Let's address her second visit. After I sent the first email I reached out to Chesney in case I was missing anything. Jessica chose to come back despite the lack of a ramp. As stated in my previous email, Jessica seemed impaired when she came in. She mentioned that she had just ran into a dumpster in the parking lot with her 4 month old in the car. My coworker and I had a conversation about this and I watched this situation unfold. I contemplated calling 911. Jessica was scheduled for a color service but what she needed was a color correction which is a 4 hour service and is time sensitive at certain points during that appointment. Jessica set her appointment up online not knowing that she needed a color correction and Chesney only had 2 hours available. A 4 hour appointment with a 4 year old is a huge challenge let alone with a Mom that seemed impaired. What Jessica also neglected to mention is that Chesney did not charge her for the service. Chesney cut her hair, added a few highlights and let her know that she needed more time to do her hair correctly. Never once did Chesney say her daughter was a problem. Chesney treated her with the utmost respect. Also as a business owner I do not need to provide a room to breast feed. Many women come in and nurse their children and we don't give it a second thought. No Mother brings a child in for a 4 hour appointment.
