When financing a vehicle consider all options carefully. Understand that by financing a vehicle the creditor has a lien on the vehicle's title until the consumer pays the contract in full. It is important to make payments on time. Late and missed payments can result in late fees, repossession and can have a negative affect on your credit.

Before seeking financing, determine how much you can afford. Consider the overall cost including maintenance, repairs, insurance, etc. Know your credit since the bank will be checking your credit worthiness to determine if you qualify for a loan. Only finance a vehicle when you can afford to take on the debt.

Read the entire agreement before signing and ask questions about anything you do not understand. Once you sign the contract, you are legally obligated. Be sure to leave with a copy of the agreement with all signatures and terms filled in.

If you face financial problems and can't make a payment, contact your creditor as soon as possible. They may work out a payment arrangement and some will even allow you to revise the payment schedule. If you experience problems with the finance company that you cannot resolve directly with the lender, file a complaint with BCA.
