BCA's Summary and Analysis:

Complainants allege the company uses high pressure sales tactics, and various misrepresentations to convince potential customers that they have already been approved for a grant if they apply. Customers complain, after agreeing to pay the $265 processing fee, they find out the information is available for free on other internet sights, and the company has no exclusive business relationship, or contact information despite implications made by company personnel. Some complainants allege they send the required processing fee and receive nothing from the company. Other customers request refunds based on alleged misrepresentations and deceptive sales practices. Some customers even claim they pay extra charges for rush deliveres, but weeks later still have not received their package. Most complainants contend the company's practices are deceptive, based on failure to disclose that the guarantee offered is conditional.

The company responds to some complaints by issuing refunds, or sending information packages. In some cases, they offer explanations of their "money back guarantee." They explain, the guarantee is conditional based on the buyer supplying them with copies of seven denial letters from grant sources they applied to within a one year period. Several complaints are unresolved, meaning customers are not satisfied with the company's responses. In some cases the company refused to make any adjustments stating the the customer's payment was authorized, and not subject to refund. The company addresses allegations of high pressure sales tactics by defending the methods used and explaining that high profits are obtained by engaging in these practices.

Comments and Analysis

This company advertises nationally in newspapers, periodicals, and via their internet site, the ability to provide insider access to Government loans and grants. The program offered, sells for $265, and is sold with a money back guarantee. The company guarantees the buyer at least $5,000 in grant money, or, they claim they will issue a refund. This company is not in the business of providing assistance obtaining grants. They are an information sales company. The information they sell you for $265, can be obtained from the U S Government for free. We advise careful consideration if you are thinking about responding to an ad for "Free" grant money. Some companies offering grant information attempt to imply affiliation with government entities, but are actually third parties attempting to capitalize on using information that can be obtained for free from government websites. This company's program, consists of photo copied pages of a Department of Health and Human Services website, called "The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance." You can obtain the information free of charge on the internet at www.aspe.os.dhhs.gov. Government grants are not designed to provide a means to pay bills or have money to spend. Generally, obtaining a grant is a complicated process, requiring documentation and research. Although private foundations may exist whose requirements are based on personal preference, the vast majority requires applicants to meet very specific guidelines that the foundation has established.
