Carol and VetAssist made it happen. Don now has an attendant and the help he needs to make living at home possible. Who knew the VA had such benefits? VetAssist and Veterans Home Care is the answer.

Last year my friend and neighbor, Don, contacted me for help. He is a US Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. At the time, aged 92, with failing vision, significant loss of hearing, mobility limitations, and a spouse in and out of the hospital with all sorts of medical issues of her own, he needed help. His driving license was not renewed due to the vision issues and he was basically high and dry in a home in need of assistance for transportation, shopping, activities of daily living, and just about everything else. Somehow he found the VetAssist Program from Veterans Home Care, but really was not sure who they were of if they could help. His contact, Carol, was a godsend! I spoke with her on Don's behalf and she explained the program. As a retired medical case manager and disability management specialist she spoke my language. I had no idea the VA had home care benefits. The application and paperwork involved are ponderous. Carol walked us through all of it. I am used to dealing with workers compensation and group accident and health benefits insurance, but the VA is a different system entirely. Carol and VetAssist made it happen. Don now has an attendant and the help he needs to make living at home possible. Who knew the VA had such benefits? VetAssist and Veterans Home Care is the answer. Carol handed off Don's case to Kimberly and she is continuing to be the contact now that Don's VA benefits have been approved. It is reassuring to have someone acting on Don's behalf.

About Veterans Home Care, LLC

Our exceptional VetAssist® Program helps veterans, or their surviving spouses, apply for a little-known Department of Veterans Affairs benefit to pay for assistance with activities of daily living. Then, we provide home care while the VA reviews the claim. The VetAssist® Program also furnishes continuing case management and ongoing compliance monitoring – all with no out-of-pocket costs.

An estimated two million wartime veterans or their widows are eligible for the “Aid & Attendance” pension to help pay for home care. You, or someone you love, might be one of them.

We’ve successfully helped thousands of veteran families receive the “Aid & Attendance” pension and continue to live in the comfort of their own homes.
